German Hells Angels gang member was arrested Wednesday after shooting dead a policeman who was about to search his home, prosecutors said.
Without warning, the gunman fired twice through the closed door of his apartment in the town of Anhausen near Koblenz, as a special police squad prepared to enter, state prosecutors said.
The 42-year-old officer, who was wearing a bulletproof vest, was hit at least once and likely died of internal bleeding, investigations showed.
The 43-year-old gang member and his partner were subsequently overpowered and arrested. The man was wanted for questioning in connection with a robbery in the town's red light district.
